QRIS Usage In Jakarta Has Reached 3.9 Million Merchants
JAKARTA - Head of the DKI Jakarta Representative Office of Bank Indonesia (BI) Onny Widjanarko revealed that currently, users of the Quick Response Code Indonesian Standard (QRIS) as an electronic payment instrument in Jakarta reached 3.9 million merchants.
This figure is claimed to be the largest in Indonesia. Onny said that his party is targeting an increase in the use of shops using QRIS to reach 4.5 million by the end of this year.
"Our target in 2022 is that there will be an additional 600,000 merchants and we want to reach the optimal point. So, when the number of merchants has become 3.9 million, it's time for us to push transactions to stores using QRIS," said Onny in a virtual discussion, Tuesday, April 26. .
By the end of 2021, e-commerce transactions in Jakarta will reach IDR 22.4 trillion. The value of this transaction increased by 8 percent from the previous quarter of Rp. 21.7 trillion.
"This is just a source of four local e-commerce, now it should be more than this because the figure of IDR 22.4 trillion is only the four largest e-commerce," he said.
This increase in electronic transaction turnover, said Onny, was due to the COVID-19 pandemic which limited direct interaction activities. Therefore, many people change their payment behavior from cash to digital.
Based on his records, the share of the economy in Jakarta reached 17.19 percent at the national level. This figure is claimed to be very high compared to other provinces in Indonesia, even though Jakarta is only inhabited by 10.6 million people.
"This is because it is the center, Jakarta is completely central from the trade center, information center, financial center and digital economy center," he added.
