April 30 Is Predicted To Be The Peak Of Passenger Density At Kupang's Tenau Port
KUPANG - The peak of passenger density at the Port of Tenau Kupang, East Nusa Tenggara (NTT), is predicted to occur on Saturday 30 April. The forecast was conveyed by PT Pelayaran Nasional Indonesia (Pelni).
"We predict that on the 30th of this week there will be a peak in homecoming flows specifically for the NTT region," said Head of the Kupang Pelni Branch, Syafran in Kupang, Tuesday, April 26.
This, he said, was because on Saturday, April 30, there would be two Pelni ships that would serve shipping from Kupang to a number of areas in NTT.
The two Pelni ships are Sirimau, which serves Kupang-Ende and KM Awu, which serves Kupang-Kalabahi, Alor Regency.
"But we cannot predict how many homecomers will depart on that date. We will only know after the ship arrives," he said, quoted by Antara.
He added that besides increasing the price of plane tickets, travelers from NTT would prefer to use sea transportation instead of air.
Previously he also said that Pelni Kupang prepared 11 passenger ships to serve the people in NTT during the Eid al-Fitr 1443 Hijri holiday.
He said that the 11 Pelni ships consisted of five passenger ships and the rest were pioneer ships that had been serving the community in NTT.
Prospective travelers who wish to use the Pelni ship are expected to have received a third dose of vaccine or a booster dose of vaccine so that they can be allowed to sail.
"But if it's only once, then you have to show the results of the PCR test, then the second vaccine is enough for a quick antigen test," he said.
