Demonstrator Risma Rejects Omnibus Law Damaging Public Facilities In Surabaya
SURABAYA - The Mayor of Surabaya, Tri Rismaharini, scolded demonstrators for rejecting the Omnibus Law on Work Creation in the area of Jalan Governor Suryo, Surabaya City, East Java, Thursday night. Because the demonstration resulted in the destruction of public facilities.
Risma, who immediately took to the streets and checked the condition of the streets in Surabaya, after the demonstration against the Job Creation Law. He was disappointed and angry with the demonstrators' action that destroyed public facilities and plant pots in the city of Surabaya. "You know, I built this for my people too, why did you destroy my city. Why don't you destroy your city yourself," said Risma in a high tone to one of the demonstrators secured by police, Thursday, October 8.
Risma then asked the police to bring in a demonstrator, to be processed legally. The young man who was scolded by Risma couldn't respond to anything. He only apologized and huddled in front of Risma.
"I beg your pardon ma'am," said the young man.
After scolding the young man, Risma then returned to monitoring the condition of cleaning Jalan Governor Suryo after the demonstration. He picked up rocks, sandals and broken glass, the marks of clashes.
Not only city streets and public facilities were damaged by the protesters. Suroboyo Square, which was inaugurated on August 17, 2020, the Mayor of Risma was also the target of demonstrators' rampage.
The park, which is about 200 meters from the Grahadi State Building, was destroyed and damaged by the masses. Glass for lighting and decorative lamps for lighting around the garden, were also destroyed.
