Menkumham Yasonna Encourages Society To Increase Intellectual Property Applications

JAKARTA - RI Minister of Law and Human Rights (Menkumham) Yasonna Hamonangan Laoly encourages the public, especially business actors in the country, to continue to increase applications for registration or submission of intellectual property (KI) registration to the agency.

"I hope that the increasing application for IP in Indonesia can become a common concern, considering that IP has great potential if it is used to its full potential," said Minister of Law and Human Rights Yasonna H. Laoly at the commemoration of World Intellectual Property Day 2022 in Jakarta, reported by Antara, Tuesday, April 26.

For this reason, he said, strengthening in improving IP services in the region was needed. Central synergy with the Regional Office of the Ministry of Law and Human Rights (Kemenkumham) is a major strength.

This includes collaboration between ministries, state institutions, local governments, and IP stakeholders as the key to success in implementing the IP system. The goal. he said, to increase economic growth as an important part of national development.

In commemoration of World Intellectual Property Day 2022, the Ministry of Law and Human Rights also launched an IP marketplace work program which is a promotional platform in the form of e-commerce that brings together Kl owners with buyers and investors directly.

The Directorate General of Intellectual Property (DJKI), he said, would help promote KL through the IP marketplace. The Ministry of Law and Human Rights provides a website that looks like e-commerce, but what is being sold is Kl.

"Later there will be complete information, who is the owner and holder of the rights," said Yasonna. Not only that, on the same occasion, Yasonna also inaugurated a new logo for geographical indications which is now wrapped in red and white colors. The red and white color composition symbolizes the Indonesian flag and shows geographical indication products originating from the country.

He said that the philosophy of the new logo color has a bold meaning in this case showing the competitiveness of Indonesia's geographical indication products in national and international markets.

The white color, he continued, has a sacred meaning in this case a sincere and holy intention to protect products of Indonesia's geographical indications.

"We hope the new logo can move the wheels of the economy in Indonesia," he said.

Finally, the alumnus of the University of North Sumatra continues to invite and encourage the public to register geographical indications with the DJKI Kemenkumham.
