Ministry Of Health: The Pandemic Is Considered To Be Under Control Despite The Easing Of Activities
JAKARTA - Spokesperson for the COVID-19 vaccination of the Ministry of Health, Siti Nadia Tarmizi, assessed that the pandemic condition in Indonesia was under control despite the easing of various activities.
"The easing of activities in almost all provinces has in fact not seen a significant increase in cases," Nadia said at a press conference related to the online "Covid-19 Vaccine Dynamics" which was attended in Jakarta, reported by Antara, Monday, April 25.
Even since the beginning of Ramadan, he continued, the government has decided to allow people to return home after two years of not going home.
He said, based on the daily confirmed case number of COVID-19 on April 25, 2022, 317 cases were reported.
"It's far down from when we experienced the Omicron peak of 61,000 cases or even when we experienced the Delta variant with a fairly high mortality rate," he explained.
During the same period, 33 cases of death were reported, while the highest death rate was when Omicron reached 2,200 deaths.
Then, the national positive rate is less than one percent or 0.52 percent, and the occupancy rate of hospital care until April 23 is only three percent of the total existing capacity.
"Another thing that is certainly a concern for us is that the reproduction number of the virus tends to continue to fall to less than 1, of course it is a measure that this pandemic is under control," said Nadia.
According to him, the current conditions are the same as in September-December 2021, where the pandemic can be controlled.
"We can see that our positive number can be maintained within a period of three months to 3.5 months at a rate below one percent," he said.
He said, Indonesia should be grateful that the control of COVID-19 in Indonesia is somewhat better than other countries, including ASEAN countries.
"If we look at Malaysia itself, it still recorded 4,000 cases per day on April 24, Singapore had 2,000 cases per day and Thailand had almost 15,000 cases and Australia had 33,700 cases," said Nadia.
