Shin Tae-yong Reveals The Culprit Behind The Defeat Of The U-23 National Team To Pohang Steelers
JAKARTA - The U-23 Indonesian national team lost 0-2 while undergoing a test match against Pohang Steelers at the Steel Yard Stadium, Saturday, April 23. Shin Tae-yong revealed the main culprit of his foster children's defeat.
Quoted from PSSI's official website, Monday, the South Korean coach did not hesitate to criticize his team's playing style, which was considered to be slow.
"For now (the evaluation) is on the tempo of the match. So the opponent relies more on quick passes with one-two touches but we can't catch up," said Shin Tae-yong.
After the match, Shin Tae-yong also highlighted his attack-building tactics which he said were still weak when in the opponent's defense zone. Shin Tae-yong said the slow game tempo of the Garuda Squad had an impact on the process of preparing the attack which was also slow.
"First of all, the tempo of the game and the passing, timing, and also when we had chances to score, but from behind no one (players) went up at all," he said.
Reflecting on the defeat of the K-League 1 team, Shin Tae-yong confirmed that he would evaluate the appearance of his opposing team. The reason is, the U-23 national team is planned to face Daejeon Hana Citizen on Wednesday the day after tomorrow in preparation for appearing at the SEA Games Hanoi 2021.
