12 Days Of Campaign Period, Riau Bawaslu Disbanded Campaigns 2 Times Because They Did Not Permit The Police
JAKARTA - The Riau Province General Election Supervisory Agency (Bawaslu) has dissolved 2 Simultaneous Election 2020 campaign activities in its territory.
"That is the result of our supervision during the 12 days of the campaign," said Head of Riau Province Bawaslu Rusidi Rusdan in Pekanbaru, Thursday.
Rusidi said that the two campaign activities were dissolved by the Election Supervisor who had previously coordinated with the local police.
"The two campaign breakdowns occurred in Dumai City because the organizers did not have permission from the local police," he said.
Rusidi said that during the 12-day campaign period in nine regencies / cities in Riau 449 activities had been carried out in the form of limited meetings.
As per the schedule from September 26, 2020, the candidate pairs that have been appointed by the KPU have been allowed to campaign.
As for the procedures to be followed in conducting a campaign, pairs of candidates must pocket a Campaign Notification Receipt (STTP) from the local police.
This applies to every type of campaign, including face-to-face or dialogue. The STTP must be submitted first to the police which will be copied to the General Election Commission and the local Election Supervisory Board.
In monitoring the campaign in the first 10 days, continued Rusidi, candidate pairs carried out more campaigns with limited meetings, distributing campaign materials in the form of masks, women's head coverings (headscarves), business cards, brochures, stickers and others.
This activity is spread in several areas such as in Rokan Hulu Regency, Rokan Hilir Regency, Kuantan Singingi Regency, Meranti Islands Regency and Dumai City.
"We saw that the campaign materials distributed by the pairs of candidates were in the form of headscarves, masks, clothes, business cards and brochures, and that was allowed," he explained.
During the COVID-19 pandemic, the implementation of health protocols was also part of the focus of Bawaslu's supervision.
From Bawaslu's records, health protocol violations occurred in Kuansing Regency and Meranti Islands Regency, but supervisors who were in the field immediately reminded the success team and the community to obey the health protocol.
"Regency / City Bawaslu throughout Riau will also continue to supervise the installation of APK (campaign props) that is not in accordance with the rules, and if we find it we will immediately put it in order," he said.
