450 Gembrong Market Residents Lose Their Homes Ahead Of Eid Al-Fitr
JAKARTA - As many as 450 families (KK) residents of Jalan Basuki Rahmat, RT 04/01, North Cipinang Besar Village, Jatinegara District, East Jakarta lost their homes ahead of the Eid al-Fitr 1443 H.
The fire scorched houses and toy shops belonging to residents in the area. The fire can only be handled on Sunday, April 24, at night, around 23.00 WIB with a burned area of 1200 square meters in 5 RT Cipinang Besar Utara Village.
"There are about 400 residential buildings and shops in RT 02, 03, 04, 05 and 06 in RW 01. The loss is estimated at 1.5 billion," said Head of East Jakarta Gulkarmat Sub-dept. Gatot Sulaeman to reporters, Monday, April 25.
From the results of the officer's investigation, the fire originated from an electrical short circuit in one of the residents' houses with the initials R on the 2nd floor of his house. The sparks then spread and spread to other houses causing a big fire.
"Due to an electric short circuit, there were 450 families (heads of families) with 1000 people in five RTs," he said.
The incident was discovered when the owner of the house with the initials R noticed a fire and screamed for help. Residents who knew tried to extinguish the fire with makeshift equipment.
"However, the fire quickly grew and spread to the surrounding area because the surrounding buildings were made of wood. The fire was under control around 23.00 WIB," he said.
The process of extinguishing the fire was carried out by 130 firefighters with 26 fire engines.
