Jakarta's Economy Recovers, Tax Revenue In The Capital Region Grows 52 Percent

JAKARTA - The Directorate General (DG) of Regional Taxes for DKI Jakarta reported that until the end of the first quarter of 2022, the realization of tax revenues grew 52.8 percent year-on-year (yoy) to Rp222.6 trillion from the previous Rp145.7 trillion. .

Head of the Central Jakarta DGT Regional Office, Yunirwansyah, said that the positive tax revenue performance at the beginning of this year was influenced by several things.

"First, of course, the economic condition is improving and continues to recover," he said in a webinar today on Monday, April 25.

According to Yunirwansyah, the second factor that drives the tax sector to contribute significantly is related to fluctuations in the prices of important world commodities.

"High commodity prices, rising world oil prices, and increasing export and import activities have boosted tax payments to the state treasury," he said.

Meanwhile, the third factor, which Yunirwansyah said was the lever for the tax increase, was the Voluntary Disclosure Program or PPS which was part of the implementation of the Law on Harmonization of Tax Regulations (HPP).

"The existence of the PPS program has contributed to increasing taxes in DKI Jakarta," he said.

Then the fourth is influenced by the expansion of the tax base in the capital city area and also the increasing public awareness in paying taxes.

"There is an increase in the number of taxpayers who pay this year," he said.

In detail, Yunirwansyah explained that the Central Jakarta Regional Tax Office contributed IDR 14.3 trillion, West Jakarta Regional Office IDR 12.1 trillion, South Jakarta I IDR 16.2 trillion, South Jakarta II IDR 31.3 trillion.

Then, East Jakarta Regional Office Rp 4.5 trillion, North Jakarta Rp 12.6 trillion, Special Jakarta Regional Office Rp 50.7 trillion, and LTO Jakarta Regional Office Rp 98.6 trillion.
