Update On COVID-19 As Of 8 October: New Positive Cases Of 4,850 People

JAKARTA - The Ministry of Health (Kemenkes) releases the latest additional positive cases of COVID-19 today. A total of 43,389 specimens were examined today. As a result, there were 4,850 new positive cases of COVID-19.

"The total accumulation of positive cases since COVID-19 was discovered in Indonesia has reached 320,564 people," the Ministry of Health was quoted as saying, Thursday, October 8.

Today's cases increased by 3,769, so that a total of 244,060 people recovered. Then, the positive confirmed cases who died increased by 108 people and a total of 11,580 people.

The province with the most new cases was in DKI Jakarta with 1,182 new cases and a total of 83,372 cases. DKI Jakarta is also the province with the most accumulated cases in Indonesia.

Followed by West Java, which has 597 new cases with a total of 26,259 cases. Central Java has 348 new cases and a total of 25,261 cases. East Java has 347 new cases and a total of 46,095 cases. Then, East Kalimantan has 238 new cases and a total of 10,203 cases.

The province with the most cases recovered today belongs to DKI Jakarta with an increase of 1,044 recovered cases. Followed by West Java with an increase of 325 recovered cases, East Java with an increase of 334 recovered cases, and Central Java with an increase of 270 cases recovered.

Then, there are 2 provinces that reported no cases of recovery today. The provinces are North Maluku and Bangka Belitung.

In addition, the number of specimens that had been examined reached 3,639,108. In details, 3,578,841 specimens were examined using real time polymerase chain reaction (RT-PCR) and 60,267 using molecular rapid tests (TCM).

"The number of positive results per number of specimens examined (positivity rate) was 14.5 percent," he wrote.
