Meet Ulama And West Java Scholars, Deputy Chairperson Of The People's Consultative Assembly Tells The Reason Prabowo Wants To Join Jokowi's Government

JAKARTA - Deputy Chair of the Indonesian People's Consultative Assembly from the Gerindra Party faction, Ahmad Muzani, revealed the reason Prabowo Subianto wanted to join the Jokowi-Ma'ruf government as defense minister. This was revealed by Muzani while attending a gathering with scholars, leaders of mass organizations, academics, and intellectuals from the West Java community at the Darul Hikam Foundation Building, Bandung, Saturday, April 23.

Initially, the Secretary General of the Gerindra Party mentioned the importance of national unity and integrity in dealing with various problems. Especially in the fight against the COVID-19 pandemic which has been haunting the world for two years.

According to Muzani, as a big country, Indonesia must have a leader who upholds unity. Because, with unity, the country will be strong.

"That is why Pak Prabowo prefers to maintain national unity after the 2019 presidential election," Muzani said in his statement to reporters, Sunday, April 24.

Muzani said that divisions that threaten national unity are very real. Especially after the 2019 general election. "Pak Prabowo does not want this nation to be divided, let alone bloodshed. Therefore, he decided to maintain this unity by jointly building a government under the Jokowi-Ma'ruf Amin cabinet," he continued.

Muzani assessed that Prabowo's decision was indeed unpopular. In fact, he said, until now it has often been misunderstood, misinterpreted so that Prabowo is often scolded and berated.

"But that is the price of unity, and finally a conducive atmosphere has occurred until now. Especially when we are facing the COVID-19 pandemic, we really feel harmony and togetherness," said Muzani.
