Fuel Demand Soars Up To 14 Percent, Minister Of Energy And Mineral Resources Supervises Fuel Distribution In West Java And Central Java

JAKARTA - Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources (ESDM) Arifin Tasrif together with President Director of PT Pertamina (Persero) Nicke Widyawati and Head of BPH Migas Erika Retnowati continue to directly monitor the distribution of fuel oil (BBM) at two public fuel filling stations (SPBU). behind the West Java toll road.

Previously, Arifin had also monitored the condition of a number of gas stations along the West Java and Central Java toll road sections. The results of sudden inspections in the field showed that the supply and distribution of fuel was safe, and even the gas station attendants managed to break up the long queues when filling up with fuel.

"We ask Pertamina to secure the tanks (gas stations) as optimally as possible, to prepare for the homecoming and return flows, especially diesel and Pertalite fuel types. We will increase the stock position later," said Arifin in his official statement, Saturday, April 23.

Arifin also asked the gas station officers to speed up the fuel filling process and pay attention to the layout of the gas station.

"We ask gas station officers to increase fuel filling to reduce long queues. There must be extra work to speed up and utilize the layout (gas stations) for large vehicles," he explained.

The government will also optimize the use of digital technology as part of distribution supervision such as CCTV and digitization.

"So we know the goods (BBM) sent and the goods purchased. Everything is recorded," said Arifin.

Not only that, the Government and Pertamina have also started implementing a single user system for consumers who want to buy fuel.

"Now we have started a surveillance system by highlighting the license plate system so that it can be recorded. Later, it will be discovered vehicles that are back and forth filling fuel," he said.

Notes from the results of the misuse of BBM in the digitization system will immediately be followed up by reporting to law enforcement.

"Yesterday, many actions were taken by the police in the case of stockpiling and layout of the tank from 200 liters to 400 liters. It could also leak at gas stations. That's why we are trying to handle it," explained Arifin.

The need for several types of fuel, such as Pertalite and Solar is expected to increase towards the peak of the Eid holiday compared to the average daily consumption.

"There will be an increase of around 12-14 percent," said Arifin.

Based on Pertamina's projections, Pertalite sales in the West Java (JBB) region have increased by 4.9 percent in the past month. From the previous average in March of 19,828 liters to 20,794 liters in April. In contrast, the Pertamax type decreased by 24 percent from the March average of 6,142 liters to 4,669 liters in April.

As for the JBB region, the peak of the increase in gasoline consumption (Pertalite, Pertamax, Turbo) itself is estimated to occur on May 1, 2022 with an increase of up to 35 percent, while the lowest decline in gasoil (BioSolar, Dexlite, Dex) is estimated on May 3, 2022 with a decline of up to 52 percent. .

In general, fuel stock resilience as of April 20 in the West Java region was recorded at 16.4 days for gasoline and 22.7 days for gasoil.
