BMKG: Malei Fault Activity Triggers 7 Km Shallow Earthquake In Poso . Regency

PALU - The Meteorology, Climatology and Geophysics Agency reported that the Malei Fault activity triggered a shallow earthquake with a depth of 7 km in Poso Regency, Central Sulawesi.

The results of the analysis of the Meteorology, Climatology and Geophysics Agency (BMKG) of the Palu Geophysics Station, stated that the 4.1 magnitude tectonic earthquake was centered on land.

"Thursday, the Tambarana area of Poso Regency, Central Sulawesi Province was rocked by a tectonic earthquake. The earthquake's epicenter was located at coordinates 1.33 South Latitude - 120.48 East Longitude or precisely located 19 km southwest of Tambarana (Poso Regency)," explained the Head of the Palu Geophysics Station, Sujabar in a statement. written quoted by Antara, Thursday, April 21.

By looking at the location and depth, this earthquake is classified as a shallow earthquake.

"Based on community reports, this earthquake was felt by three MMI in Poso, and this earthquake has no potential for a tsunami," he explained.

BMKG appealed to the public to remain calm and not be influenced by issues that cannot be justified.
