The Story Of Being A Successful Entrepreneur Until You Get The Mandate Of The Minister Of SOEs, Erick Thohir Remembers His Mother
JAKARTA - Minister of State-Owned Enterprises (BUMN) Erick Thohir recalled his mother. He said that everything he has achieved today, cannot be separated from his mother's hard upbringing when he was little.
According to Erick, the strict upbringing of his mother made him grow into a disciplined person. In fact, Erick admitted that his mother did not hesitate to punish him by locking him in the bathroom.
"My mother taught me extraordinary discipline. When I was naughty, I was locked in the bathroom. That's part of my discipline to work hard, because that's why I thank God I received a mandate today (as Minister of SOEs), of course the directors and commissioners as the minister, from the president, from the people," she said at the 'Woman Wonderdul & Magnificent BRI' event, Thursday, April 21.
Erick said that he did not come from a rich family. In fact, when he was small his parents had to earn money together. To help the family's economy, her mother had to sell clothes in the market.
"I watched how my mother sells from morning to evening, making sure to also take care of her child so they can study, when to rest, go home, play, not to mention preparing dinner. I witnessed it myself, it was extraordinary," he said.
Therefore, Erick said that women have an important role in future economic progress. Because, it has been proven that if you want to be a developed country, you must support women.
"Our data has proven that we will become a developed country if the strength of our women continues to push, which is called our economic growth. The economy," he said.
According to Erick, this is the basis for him to push for gender equality by continuing to increase the target of women's representation in state-owned companies.
"The policy from the ministry is that the target of 25 percent of female leaders in SOEs must be achieved, that's according to the target in 2023," he said.
