Liverpool Fans Show Support For Ronaldo's Condolences, Family Sends Thanks
JAKARTA - The action of Liverpool fans who gave support to the grieving Cristiano Ronaldo received a positive response from the Manchester United (MU) star family. Ronaldo's two sisters, Katia Aveiro and Elma Aveiro, thanked the Reds supporters.
Through their respective social media accounts, Ronaldo's sisters appreciated the Liverpool fans' actions. Katia Aveiro was even seen re-uploading a video of Liverpool fans clapping and singing the song You'll Never Walk Alone.
"More than football," wrote Katia Aveiro as a token of her gratitude.
Meanwhile, Ronaldo's other sister, Elma Aveiro, also uploaded a photo with the background of Liverpool fans giving a round of applause in solidarity. In addition, Elma wrote a thank you message and said this moment will never be forgotten.
"Thanks for that, Liverpool. We will never forget what you did today," Elma wrote.
Despite the flood of support from Liverpool fans, Ronaldo did not participate in the match week 32 of the 2021/2022 English League which was held on Wednesday, April 20, early morning of GMT+7 (Indonesian Time) at Anfield Stadium.
Ronaldo was deliberately not brought by MU coach Ralf Rangnick because he understood the sad situation that was happening. The Portuguese footballer just lost his son during the birth process that occurred before the Liverpool vs MU moment.
Regarding the grief felt by Ronaldo, the Reds coach Jurgen Klopp tried to put aside the rivalry between the two teams. After the match, he also stated that the action of sympathy in the match at Anfield became an important event as a form of true solidarity.
"My moment of the match was the seventh minute when the whole stadium showed its class, so many things are far more important in life than football. We understand the feelings of Cristiano and his family," Klopp said after the match quoted from the club's official website.
