Update On COVID-19 As Of October 7: New Cases Of 4,538, Recovering, 3,854

JAKARTA - The Ministry of Health (Kemenkes) releases the latest additional positive cases of COVID-19 today. A total of 44,212 specimens were examined today. As a result, there were 4,538 new positive cases of COVID-19.

"The total accumulation of positive cases since COVID-19 was discovered in Indonesia has reached 315,714 people," the Ministry of Health was quoted as saying, Wednesday, October 7.

Today's cases increased by 3,854 so that a total of 240,291 people recovered. Then, 98 confirmed positive cases died and a total of 11,472 people.

The province with the most new cases is in DKI Jakarta with 1,211 new cases and a total of 82,190 cases. DKI Jakarta is also the province with the most accumulated cases in Indonesia.

Followed by West Java which has 752 new cases with a total of 25,662 cases. Central Java has 384 new cases and a total of 24,913 cases. East Java has 331 new cases and a total of 45,748 cases. Then, East Kalimantan has 202 new cases and a total of 9,965 cases.

The province with the most cases recovered today belongs to DKI Jakarta with an increase of 986 recovered cases. Followed by West Java with an increase of 513 recovered cases, East Java with an increase of 293 recovered cases, and Central Java with an increase of 270 cases recovered.

Then, there is 1 province that reported no new cases today. The province is North Maluku.

In addition, the number of specimens that had been examined reached 3,595,719. In details, 3,537,044 specimens were examined using real time polymerase chain reaction (RT-PCR) and 58,675 using molecular rapid tests (TCM).

"The number of positive results per number of specimens examined (positivity rate) was 14.5 percent," he wrote.

Finally, the number of people suspected of having contracted COVID-19 or who are currently categorized as suspected cases was 142,213. Currently, 498 districts / cities from 34 provinces have cases of COVID-19.
