PAN: Trade Minister Lutfi's Plot Twist, Orders To Arrest The Cooking Oil Mafia, Who Arrested Instead

JAKARTA - Member of Commission VI DPR RI Eko Hendro Purnomo alias Eko Patrio appreciated the steps taken by the Attorney General's Office (AGO) to investigate the alleged corruption case of cooking oil and named the suspect Director General of Foreign Trade of the Ministry of Trade (Kemendag), Indrasari Wisnu Wardhana.

"We appreciate the AGO's steps in uncovering the migrant mafia," said Eko Patrio to reporters, Wednesday, April 20.

However, Eko regrets that the figure who played in the alleged cooking oil corruption case is a high-ranking Ministry of Trade official. Even though the Ministry of Trade is a regulator, it becomes part of the mafia game.

"On the other hand, I am concerned because at the same time we are shown that one of the mafias is in the policy-making institution, namely the Ministry of Trade itself," said the member of the commission, which is partnered with the Ministry of Trade. The PAN politician also reminded that this incident must be a homework for the Ministry of Trade in eradicating the mafia that exists within its own institution. Moreover, said Eko, at that time the Minister of Trade, M. Lutfi, had once boasted that he would reveal the cooking oil mafia.

As a result, continued Eko, many people were disadvantaged because they had to face the scarcity of cooking oil at exorbitant prices. "People find it difficult to get cheap cooking oil and in the end it spreads to other food prices," continued the legislator for the DKI Jakarta electoral district.

Eko also hopes that the AGO can uncover the corruption case completely and completely. Including, revealing other parties involved in the case. As well as the case of exports and imports of other commodities.

"In the future, I hope that law enforcement officers such as the Attorney General's Office can begin to investigate abuses that have occurred in this ministry. Maybe it's not just migrants, but there are frauds in facilitation of exports and imports of other commodities," he concluded.
