Ben Affleck And Matt Damon Star In Film About Nike
JAKARTA - Ben Affleck will be teaming up with his best friend Matt Damon on an upcoming film project that focuses on the true story of former Nike executive Sonny Vaccarro. The film's story revolves around Nike's long effort to recruit basketball player Michael Jordan to its shoe company in the mid-eighties.
Quoted from The Hollywood Reporter, Wednesday, Affleck will serve as director, writer, and co-star, while Damon will serve as producer, writer, and main star. Damon plays Vaccarro and Affleck plays Nike co-founder Phil Knight.
The film is reportedly untitled and will be co-produced with Amazon Studios, Skydance Sports and Mandalay Pictures. Affleck and Damon are reportedly reworking a script that Alex Convery had previously written for the project.
Vaccarro attempted to forge a partnership that seemed impossible at the time, but ultimately resulted in the most significant relationship between a sports brand and athlete in the billion-dollar global sneakers industry.
Quoted from ANTARA, this new project will mark the return of Affleck's collaboration with Damon. The two famously won Oscars as screenwriters for the film "Good Will Hunting" (1997). The film, directed by Gus van Sant, also stars Damon and Affleck in supporting roles.
The pair of best friends also reunited last year for director Ridley Scott's "The Last Duel," with Damon and Ben Affleck co-starring.
