Deputy Chairman Of The DPR RI: People Should Not Be Provoked By Hoaxes Regarding The Job Creation Bill

JAKARTA - Deputy Speaker of the Indonesian House of Representatives, Azis Syamsuddin, asked the public not to be provoked by fake news or hoaxes on social media related to the important points in the Job Creation Bill which was approved by the DPR to become law at the Plenary Meeting on Monday, October 5.

He asked the public to be able to read in full and not be influenced by hoaxes on social media that were spread and made deliberately by irresponsible people.

"I ask the public to filter and cross-check the circulating information first. This is so that the information that comes in does not make us easily provoked by false or hoax information," said Azis Syamsuddin in Jakarta, Wednesday, October 7.

Azis, who is the leader of the plenary meeting for the ratification of the Job Creation Law, asked the police to reveal the perpetrators of the hoax spread and reveal their motives. Azis invites all elements of society to be wise in using social media.

"It's wise to use social media, don't let us have to deal with law enforcers for spreading untrue news to the public," he said.

This Golkar politician explained several hoaxes, for example, related to several workers' rights such as severance pay, Provincial Minimum Wages (UMP), Regency Minimum Wages (UMK), and HMSP.

"The points contained in the Job Creation Act such as Severance Pay, UMP, UMK, HMSP which were reportedly removed, are not true or false information," said Azis emphasized.

He explained that severance pay remains in the Ciptaker Bill, which is stated in Chapter IV Article 89 concerning amendments to Article 156.

In Article 156 paragraph (1) it is stated that "in the event of termination of employment, the entrepreneur is obliged to pay severance pay and / or service pay and compensation money which should have been received.

Article 156 paragraphs (2), (3), and (4) regulate the provision of severance pay, reward pay, and compensation for rights based on the length of service of the workers.

"There is still severance pay as stated in Chapter IV Article 89 concerning amendments to Article 156 and the minimum wage remains," said Azis.

With regard to minimum wages, it is regulated in Chapter IV Article 88 paragraph (3) which states "The wage policy as referred to in paragraph (2) includes minimum wages; structure and scale of wages; overtime wages; wages for not working and / or not doing work because certain reasons; form and method of payment of wages; things that can be calculated with wages; and wages as a basis for calculation or payment of other rights and obligations.
