Gladak Perak Lumajang Suspension Bridge Can Be Crossed Soon

LUMAJANG - The Gladak Perak suspension bridge, which was destroyed by the hot clouds from Mount Semeru, could soon be passed as an access road connecting two sub-districts in Lumajang Regency, East Java.

"Alhamdulillah, the Gladak Perak suspension bridge has been connected and is currently testing the track," said the Lumajang Regent, quoted by Antara, Tuesday, April 19.

He hopes that the bridge can be functioned and reused for public access from Pronojiwo District to Candipuro District and vice versa.

"Hopefully in three days it can be used for access to Pronojiwo District," said the regent, who is usually called Cak Thoriq.

The suspension bridge built by the Ministry of Public Works and Public Housing (PUPR) is only an emergency bridge, meaning that it will only be used temporarily before the permanent bridge is rebuilt.

In his previous explanation, Cak Thoriq said that the bridge became the economic route for the community in two sub-districts, namely Candipuro and Pronojiwo sub-districts, so it is hoped that the suspension bridge can be used before Eid 1443 Hijri.

He explained that the suspension bridge is only used as access for two-wheeled vehicles and emergency vehicles such as ambulances that carry patients in emergency conditions.

"Residents in Candipuro and Pronojiwo sub-districts are a bit relieved because the Gladak Perak suspension bridge is targeted to be completed and can be used before Lebaran," he said.

The Lumajang Regency Government from the beginning has targeted the construction of the suspension bridge to be completed before Lebaran, so that it can be used by the community as access for the homecoming route and returning to Eid 2022.
