West Java Transportation Agency Predicts Peak Eid Homecoming Flows To Occur On April 29-30
BANDUNG - The Transportation Service of West Java Province predicts that the peak of the Lebaran 2022 homecoming will occur on April 29 and 30, while the peak of backflow will be on May 8, 2022 and it is estimated that a surge in the number of vehicles will occur at 07.00-09.00 WIB.
Head of the West Java Provincial Transportation Service A Koswara in Bandung, Tuesday, said the number of homecomers on the momentum of Eid Al-Fitr 1443 H/2022 AD nationally is predicted to reach 85.5 million people.
Koswara said of that number, around 14.9 million homecomers will enter or aim for the West Java region outside the Bogor, Depok and Bekasi (Bodebek) areas, or about 17.2 percent of the total homecomers.
Meanwhile, homecomers who will enter the Jakarta plus Bodebek area will reach 5.9 million people or about 7.0 percent.
Then, the destination of most homecomers is still to Central Java with an estimated 27.5 percent or about 23.5 million people, East Java 16.8 million people or 19.6 percent.
The West Java Transportation Service itself estimates that the West Java residents who will leave at the moment of Eid Al-Fitr 1443:H will reach 9.2 million people. Meanwhile, Jakarta plus Bodebek reached 14 million people.
"It is estimated that 4.5 million travelers will pass through West Java. They will cross arterial roads, to alternative routes and especially toll roads," said Koswara as quoted by Antara, Tuesday, April 19.
Meanwhile, the Secretary of the West Java Transportation Service, Idat Rosana, added that the vehicles used by travelers will be dominated by private vehicles, either cars or motorbikes.
Cars are predicted to reach 28.6 percent while motorcycles are around 21.5 percent. The rest use public transportation vehicles such as city buses (17.38 percent), trains (9.7 percent), planes (8.13 percent) and the rest via sea/river routes.
It is estimated that travelers with cars choose to rest in rest areas either on toll roads or arterial roads. Meanwhile, motorists will choose to rest in the gas station area.
"We anticipate the accumulation of vehicles during breaks, both at rest areas and gas stations, so as not to interfere with traffic," he said.
The total personnel of the Transportation Agency, both at the West Java and district/city levels who will be on duty during the homecoming and return flow reach around 5,000 people.
