Police Arrest 3 Hypnotic Perpetrators In Makassar, Victims Lose Gold Jewelry To Cars
MAKASSAR - Three hypnotists who cost their victims tens of millions of rupiah were finally arrested by the Mobile Investigation Team (Resmob) of the Makassar Panakkukang Police, South Sulawesi.
"The results of the disclosure of the hypnosis case were three people. The modus operandi was that the perpetrator pretended to know the victim, after being spoken to, he was brought into his car and stripped of the gold," said Head of Criminal Investigation Unit of the Panakkukang Police, Iptu Boby Robinsar in Makassar, Monday, March 18.
The perpetrators were each male with the initials B (52), then I (41), and R (52) female. The three were arrested at two different locations in Makassar City and Parepare City, after being caught by officers who followed up on reporting their victims.
From the hands of the perpetrators, the police confiscated several pieces of gold jewelry, such as rings, pendants, and necklaces weighing 10 grams and a red car which was allegedly used to carry out the hypnosis.
The method used by the perpetrators, said Bobby, was to talk to potential victims as if they knew him. After reciting the spell, the victim was unknowingly taken into a car and taken for a tour while handing over his valuables. After that, the victim was dropped off on a deserted street and then abandoned.
"From the results of the investigator's examination, this perpetrator has twice carried out his actions in the Panaikang area. The motive, as I said earlier, is pretending to know, and being a smart person by promising double sustenance to the victim," he said.
As for the target of potential victims, said Boby, local residents who came to Makassar wanted to shop for Lebaran needs this year.
The perpetrator was charged with Article 378 of the Criminal Code (KUHP) regarding fraudulent fraud, with the threat of imprisonment for four years.
