TNI AD Investigate Attack On Mare Koramil Post In Maybrat West Papua
SORONG - The TNI AD is still investigating the motive behind the gang of people who attacked TNI AD personnel at the Mare Preparatory Koramil Post in Suswa Village, Mare District, Maybrat Regency, West Papua, on April 17.
Head of Information for Kodam XVIII/Kasuari, Colonel ARM Hendra Pesireron, said they were investigating the motive for the attack.
According to him, an attacker known to have the initials FN (50 years old) was in a drunken state at the time of the act and his friends are still investigating the motive. FN was paralyzed by being shot in the leg by a member of the Mare Preparatory Koramil Post who was on duty at the time of the incident.
"Securing the Mare Posramil in Maybrat Regency continues as usual, there is no increase in personnel and extra security," he said, quoted by Antara, Monday, April 18.
Actually, the perpetrator of the FN, a resident of the Nafasi Village of Mare District, who is the chairman of the Village Deliberation Board, Sunday (17/4), who was drunk, ran to the Mare Preparation Koramil Post with a machete. He went to the military installation along with a number of other people who were also in a drunken state.
When the FN approached the Mare Preparatory Koramil Post, the Commander of the Mare Preparatory Koramil Post, Second Lieutenant Infantry Damanik, and members who were on standby tried to give verbal warnings not to approach.
But the FN insisted on advancing with a machete, so one of the outposts fired the first warning shot upward.
The warning was ignored by FN and continued to advance, so a second warning shot was fired towards the ground, but the second warning was also still ignored and FN continued to go forward and climb the stairs of the post while swinging a machete at Damanik who was about one meter from the perpetrator.
Seeing the precarious condition, said Pesireron, Damanik's members immediately shot FN in the leg and hit the right ankle.
FN finally stopped and was taken away by members of the Mare Preparatory Koramil Post. Several other people who had come with PFNu ended up running away.
