Wanting To Be More Fierce In The 2022 MotoGP Fifth Series, Marquez Reveals The Weaknesses Of The Honda RC213V

JAKARTA - Repsol Honda racer Marc Marquez revealed the shortcomings of his team ahead of entering the fifth MotoGP series in Portugal on April 22-24. Marquez said that his mount, namely the Honda RC213V, still had weaknesses that needed to be fixed.

This was revealed by Marquez in order to encourage the Honda mechanical team to cover deficiencies while improving the performance of their motorbikes to appear more fierce in the competition.

"I've pushed Honda about the things they have to do if they want to be competitive in the next series," said Marquez, quoted from Motorsport, Monday, April 18.

The Spaniard also touched on the performance of his teammates such as Pol Espargaro and Takaaki Nakagami who looked capable of performing well on a number of circuits. However, for Marquez, there are still things that must be improved with his mount if you want to master all the tracks throughout this series.

"It's true that Pol (Espargaro) can perform well on some circuits, (Takaaki) Nakagami can too. But we still have a number of weak points that we have to improve if we want to be consistent across all race tracks.

Furthermore, he also feels that Honda's journey in MotoGP 2022 will be difficult to predict if the current weaknesses are not immediately corrected.

"I mean with the current bike, with the current state of the world championship, it's unpredictable how the race goes."

"We can't come to a GP series and say, 'This series I will win, this series I will finish in the top five, this series I will finish in the top 10'. We don't really know. At the weekend we can only accept our position," Marquez continued.

Lastly, Marquez also emphasized that the Honda he is currently riding is not really ready to fight for the podium position.

"Of course I will take risks and the target is to try to win the podium in every series. But now is not the time to fight for the podium," said Marquez ending.
