Acquaintance Through MiChat, Man Claims To Be A TNI Member Bringing A Dating Friend's Motorcycle
MEDAN - The East Binjai Police Criminal Investigation Team, North Sumatra, arrested a man who claimed to be a member of the TNI named M Iqbal (27). He was arrested after taking away his date's motorbike with the initials SF (24) whom he knew through the MiChat application.
Head of Public Relations of the Binjai Police, Iptu Junaidi, said the incident occurred on Sunday, January 28. At first, the perpetrator and the victim became acquainted through the MiChat dating application and continued through WhatsApp.
"The perpetrator then asked the reporter to meet in front of the Binjai Super Mall. The perpetrator claimed to be a member of the TNI, who served in Aceh," said Iptu Junaidi, Saturday, April 16.
After meeting, the victim then took the perpetrator to his house in West Binjai District. The two of them went to ride the victim's Honda Scoopy.
"After arriving, the victim asked the perpetrator to buy packaged rice. But on the way after buying rice, the perpetrator asked the complainant to stop at Indomaret to buy milk," he explained.
Arriving at Indomaret, the victim was then given money by the perpetrator to buy the milk. However, when he left Indomaret, the complainant was surprised that the perpetrator had disappeared with the victim's motorbike.
"For this incident, the complainant suffered a loss of Rp. 18 million," he said.
The police, who received the victim's report, hunted for the perpetrator. Furthermore, the East Binjai Police Chief AKP A Pardede then coordinated with members of the TNI Provos who served at Yon Arhanudse Binjai to jointly pursue the perpetrators.
"In the end, the perpetrator was arrested on Jalan Soekarno-Hatta, precisely behind the Ex Army Cafe, SM Rejo Village, East Binjai District," he explained.
To the police, the perpetrator admitted all his actions. The victim's motorbike, which he took, has been sold by the perpetrators for Rp. 4 million through the Facebook market place.
For further examination, the perpetrators were then detained at the East Binjai Police for the investigation process.
"He is subject to Article 378 subsidiary 372 of the Criminal Code," said Junaidi.
