Crowds Of Demonstration Workers In The Regions, KSPI Jamin Will Not Go To The DPR

JAKARTA - The ratification of the Job Creation Law caused reactions from many parties, especially workers. They staged a strike action until demonstrations to demand that the law be repealed.

The Head of the Communication and Media Department of the Confederation of Indonesian Workers Unions (KSPI), Kahar S. Cahyono, said that the demonstration was carried out by workers per region. They will not move to the DPR-RI area.

"Today, the KSPI took action in various regions. The masses did not go to the DPR," Kahar told VOI, Tuesday, October 6.

Kahar said there were several reasons for the demonstration not to be centered in front of the DPR building. First, by reason of preventing the spread of COVID-19.

"We are considering the health problems of fellow workers. So we have decided not to hold an action in the DPR," he said.

The demonstration which is only per region is also due to wanting to focus on industrial locations. Thus, the action of the hunters is more efficient and reduces the existing risks.

"Almost all regions have taken action (strikes and demonstrations). In Serang, Cilegon, Depok, Bogor, Karawang, those are some of them," he said.

The last reason, said Kahar, was that there was no urgency to hold an action at the DPR-RI because there was no longer any activity there. This is because the people's representatives are entering a recess period.

"There is no urgency. That's why we are taking action in the regions," he said.
