Suggests People Go Home Early, Minister Of Transportation Budi Karya: To Avoid Traffic Jams

JAKARTA - Minister of Transportation (Menhub) Budi Karya Sumadi advised the public to travel home early to avoid the risk of traffic jams.

"Indeed, we recommend that our brothers and sisters go home early if possible. Starting on April 25 or 26," said Budi Karya after chairing the coordination meeting "Movement Simulation and Anticipation of Peak Traffic Flow on Toll Roads During the 2022 Eid Homecoming Period" in Cikampek Utama Toll Gate, as quoted by Antara, Friday, April 15.

The Minister of Transportation said that the government has determined that state civil servants (ASN) and private employees may take annual leave before or after the holiday period and Eid 2022 joint leave.

Meanwhile, based on the Joint Decree (SKB) of the 3 Ministers, a joint leave date has been set, namely April 29, 4, 5, and May 6, 2022.

"We know that our brothers and sisters have not gone home for two years, and they really miss it. That's why we provide services," he said.

He further revealed that the Ministry of Transportation together with stakeholders including the Korlantas Polri and Jasa Marga continue to improve coordination and conduct traffic handling simulations, especially on toll roads. Traffic engineering that has been prepared is contra flow, one way, to odd-even.

"We are looking for the best way so that the homecoming is safe, comfortable, and healthy," he said.

Meanwhile, the Head of the Korlantas Polri, Inspector General Pol Firman Santyabudi, stated that he was ready to coordinate and continue to monitor traffic conditions ahead of the Lebaran homecoming period.

"Officers in the field will continue to be open to following and receiving directions. Frankly, this is dynamic in nature according to conditions on the ground," he said.

Firman conveyed that the Police used the latest data in the field related to traffic conditions and vehicle volume. This is done to avoid losses that may arise due to errors in policy making.

"So that officers in the field can also accurately determine how to act, both from place and time. We will continue to coordinate," he said.
