The Ministry Of Social Affairs Gives Compensation To Victims Of The Burning Tragedy Of Double O Executive Karaoke Sorong

SORONG - The Ministry of Social Affairs handed over compensation to the heirs of four victims of the social disaster of the Double O karaoke burning incident, Sorong, West Papua.

The cash assistance of Rp. 15 million was symbolically handed over by the Social Disaster Victim Protection Coordinator at the Directorate General of Social Security Protection at the Ministry of Social Affairs, Muhammad Tahir with a team at the Sorong City Social Service office, Thursday, April 14.

Muhammad Tahir said the tragedy of the Double O karaoke burning in Sorong City was a social disaster so that the heirs of the victims who died were given compensation by the Ministry of Social Affairs.

According to him, the incident became a concern, so Minister of Social Affairs Tri Rismaharini (Risma) ordered a team to go down to conduct an assessment to record the names of victims to be given social disaster compensation.

The compensation is an aid for victims of social disasters provided by the Directorate General of Social Security Protection.

Tahur said the compensation was given to 18 heirs of the victims who died as a result of the karaoke burning incident. Four heirs in the city of Sorong and others outside Sorong such as in Sumatra, Java, Kalimantan and Sulawesi who had been previously handed over.

The distribution of the compensation through Bank Mandiri and the heirs of the victims in the Sorong city area can take the assistance at the nearest Bank Mandiri without any tax deductions.

"Compensation of Rp. 15 million is received by the heirs in full without any deductions, including taxes," he said.
