JAKARTA - Uruguay striker Edinson Cavani has officially joined Manchester United on a one-year contract plus a one-year extension option.

MU manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer highlighted Cavani's experience which was much needed for his team.

"He will bring great energy, strength, leadership and mentality to the squad but most importantly he will score goals. So far he has had a brilliant career, winning trophies at almost every club he has played for and he still has a lot more to give. at the highest level, "said Solskjaer.

Cavani, who won the Golden Boot in both Ligue 1 and Serie A, has scored 341 goals at club level since moving to Europe in 2007, including 35 in the Champions League.

The forward has won the league six times with Paris Saint-Germain with 200 goals, which is PSG's all-time leading scorer.

In the international arena, Cavani also won the 2011 Copa America and netted 50 goals in 116 times defending Uruguay.
