Trade Minister Lutfi: Prices Of Basic Materials Drop In Mid-Ramadan And Rise Again Ahead Of Eid Al-Fitr 2022
JAKARTA - Minister of Trade Muhammad Lutfi ensures that the supply of staples and national food additives is sufficient to meet the needs of the community during the months of Ramadan and Eid in 2022. Meanwhile, the adequacy of this supply will affect market prices.
This was conveyed by Lutfi after a cross-sectoral coordination meeting to prepare for the 2022 Eid homecoming at the National Police Headquarters, in Jakarta, Thursday, April 14.
"I have stated at the meeting to the Coordinating Minister for Human Development and Culture Muhadjir Effendy that the availability of basic commodities monitored by the Ministry of Trade and national food additives looks sufficient and strong, Mr. Coordinating Minister. For this reason, the availability will affect the price," said Lutfi.
Lutfi explained that commodity price movements will increase in the early period of Ramadan. Then it slows down in the middle of Ramadan and will increase again ahead of Eid Al-Fitr 2022.
Furthermore, Lutfi explained that some food commodities experienced an increase in prices but also experienced a decline.
"So if we look at things like sugar, for example, they are stable. The price is Rp. 14,700 compared to last week. The price of cattle is up Rp. 700, or about 0.53 percent compared to last week," he said.
Meanwhile, Lutfi continued, horticultural goods such as red chili, curly red chili, red cayenne pepper have fallen by more than 15 percent.
"Similarly with onions, there was a decline and of all that, which rose slightly was soybeans of Rp. 100 compared to last week," he said.
Lutfi again emphasized the availability of sufficient basic materials. He also hopes the price will remain stable. So, all people can celebrate Eid solemnly.
"Hopefully this doesn't go anywhere, so that the delivery of these goods can be achieved with good logistics," he said.
