Closing Of The Session, Speaker Of The House Of Representatives Appreciation Of The Ratification Of The TKPS Law

JAKARTA - The Indonesian House of Representatives held the 20th DPR RI plenary meeting for the IV session of the 2021-2022 trial year. The agenda for today's plenary meeting is to close the DPR session and start the recess period from April 15 to May 16. In her closing speech, the Chairperson of the DPR RI, Puan Maharani, appreciated all members of the DPR RI who are committed to completing the Draft Law on the Crime of Sexual Violence. (TPKS).

"On behalf of the leadership, I would like to express my appreciation to all members of the DPR RI who have committed to work optimally in completing their constitutional tasks carried out during this trial," said Puan in a plenary meeting, Thursday, April 14.

The former Coordinating Minister for Human Development and Culture is grateful that the TPKS Bill can finally be passed into law after it was initiated a decade ago.

"The spirit of the establishment of the TPKS Law, in addition to meeting the needs of national law, is also to provide protection for victims and the fulfillment of victims' rights in an appropriate, fast and comprehensive manner," said Puan.

The chairman of the PDIP DPP reminded that the newly passed TPKS Law could be a guide for law enforcement to resolve cases of sexual violence.

"The existence of this law is to be a guide for the apparatus in dealing with and resolving cases of sexual violence," explained Puan.

In addition to finalizing the TPKS Bill, continued Puan, the DPR has also taken decisions on three bills to become initiatives. The three bills are related to the division of the province in Papua.

The DPR, also discussed a number of bills at level I. Namely the Personal Data Protection Bill (PDP), the Disaster Management Bill, the State Civil Apparatus Bill, the Civil Procedure Law, the Psychological Practices Bill, the revision of the Law on the Formation of Legislation, and the Continental Shelf Bill.

"The DPR RI is committed to always being able to produce legislative products that have a strong sociological basis, provide maximum benefits for advancing people's welfare and legislative products that can regulate the acceleration of achieving Indonesia's progress," said Puan.

According to the records of the Secretariat General of the DPR RI, the list of attendance at the beginning of the plenary meeting of the DPR RI today was signed by 27 physical attendees, 263 virtual, with a total of 290 out of 575 members of the DPR RI from existing factions.
