Official! Chairman Of CdM Announces Men's Futsal Team To Go To SEA Games Hanoi 2021

JAKARTA - The Indonesian men's national futsal team has finally departed for the 2021 SEA Games Hanoi. The decision was based on the recommendation of the National Sports Achievement Improvement (PPON) review team.

The confirmation of futsal being included in the biennial event was conveyed by the Indonesian contingent Chef de Mission (CdM) Ferry J. Kono after holding a coordination meeting with the Minister of Youth and Sports Zainudin Amali in Jakarta on Wednesday, April 14.

"We have listened to the recommendations from the review team. In the recommendation, the sports branches that have been determined, both DBON and non-DBON, will be added to a new sport, namely men's futsal," said Ferry in a statement received by VOI.

Futsal has also been added to the SEA Games committee. CdM will then accredit the men's futsal team so that they can compete in the event which is entering its 31st edition.

The head of the PPON review team at the Ministry of Youth and Sports, Mochamad Asmawi, explained that his party had carried out a review before deciding to participate in the men's futsal team.

"We have complete data, it turns out that the men's team has better tests, parameters, including physicality than the women's team," he said.

In addition, the men's futsal team has a very good track record of achievement. Among them are having won the 2010 AFF, three times AFF runner-up, and five times won three times in the AFF.

"Then what became our strengthening, it turned out that yesterday (AFF 2022) in Thailand the men's team was runner-up, defeated by Thailand. This has strengthened us even more. We conclude that the men's team is more appropriate to go, we provide recommendations for the men's futsal team," he explained. .

Previously, futsal was not included in the 32 sports that departed for Hanoi. At that time the review team assessed that this branch had minimal achievements and had organizational problems such as 14 other sports that were not dispatched even though they were competed.
