Zidane's New Strategy Which Bears Sweet Fruit For Madrid
JAKARTA - Zinedine Zidane made significant changes for Real Madrid. In the semi-final match of the Supercopa de Espana against Valencia in Saudi Arabia, Wednesday, January 8 evening, the concoctor installed five midfielders at once.
The result? Los Blancos won 3-1 with all the goals coming from the midfielders; Toni Kroos (15 '), Isco (39') and Luka Modric (65 '). While Valencia was only able to reply once through Daniel Parejo's penalty kick during injury time.
"We could have played with the wingers, but I decided to put Isco and Luka (Modric) deeper," Zidane said after the match. To quote Marca, Thursday, January 9.
"The most important thing is the high pressure we put on and play well," he continued.
Zizou added that Madrid wanted to hurt their opponents from the start. And they interpret everything well on the pitch.
"We always like to do new things. In the next game we will do other things," he said.
The coach then praised a number of individual actions by his midfielders. Including Isco, who scored his first goal this season while equalizing Zidane's goal while playing for Los Blancos with 49 in all competitions.
"Everyone is playing at a good level but we haven't won anything. Since Isco recovered from his injury, I don't have the right position for him. (But now) I'm satisfied with Isco's performance. He has personality and is determined to return to play. He's a responsible player. answered, "explained the French coach.
In this match, Luka Jovic was plotted as a substitute for the injured Karim Benzema, but the Croatian striker failed to score. Is Zizou worried about this fact?
"He (Jovic) played well even though he didn't score. He worked hard," said Zidane.
"It's not easy when you rarely play because there are different levels in every game. He would of course prefer to score goals, but he does everything on the pitch," concluded the coach who contributed three consecutive Champions League titles for Los Merengues.
