Snapchat Collaborates With News Publishers To Create Content On Social Media
JAKARTA - Snapchat has re-developed its social media by releasing a new feature that allows news publishers to upload their content in real time.
Starting today, more than 40 news publishers worldwide can use a new feature, called Dynamic Stories, to publish their stories to Snapchat using an RSS Feed.
Some of the international publishers include CNN, ESPN, Axios, The Wall Street Journal, TMZ, including The Independent, The Mirror, Marie Claire, GQ India and many more.
"We've always felt a deep responsibility to highlight news and information that is credible and from reliable and clear sources," Snapchat said in an official post on its blog, Wednesday, April 13.
"With Dynamic Stories, this new Discover format uses RSS Feed partners to automatically create Stories from content that Publishers have created (news) on the web."
Content from these news publishers will be available in the Discover feed, the Stories will also be updated in real-time, meaning users can follow the latest news.
Whether it's breaking news from a credible source about the war in Ukraine, pop culture or the latest fashion, Dynamic Stories helps users know the world as it happens.
"This new format will also play an important role in supporting our ongoing efforts to bring local content to our communities around the world. We have already started testing in the US, UK, France and India," explains Snapchat.
Only verified news publishers will be part of this platform. More news partners will be joining Dynamic Stories in the coming months.
The social media giant also sells vertical video ads to embed in Dynamic Stories and plans to share some of the revenue with news publishers.
A source from the Snap partner, who has been testing for months, said the partnership hasn't generated significant revenue so far, but offers news publishers an opportunity to reach an ever-distracted Gen Z audience.
Launching 9to5Mac, this isn't the first time Snap has brought the latest news to its platform. In 2018, Snapchat launched the NowThis news channel, which was featured on Snapchat Discover. Other major publishers have created their own news channels.
