Anies: TNI Front Guard Guarding Indonesia Facing Pandemic

JAKARTA - The Governor of DKI Jakarta Anies Baswedan congratulated the TNI's 75th anniversary today. Anies hopes that the TNI will continue to grow.

"Congratulations to the big family of the TNI, won over by the Indonesian National Army. Keep moving forward and remain an example for all," Anies said in a Youtube broadcast by the DKI Provincial Government, Monday, October 5.

Anies said, the theme of this year's TNI anniversary "Synergy for the Country" is very relevant to the current conditions, where Indonesia is facing the COVID-19 pandemic.

"How can the TNI continue to be at the forefront of protecting Indonesia, ensuring that it becomes a country that is intact, solid, strong, especially now that we are faced with cross-epoch challenges, namely the COVID-19 pandemic," he said.

According to him, the TNI has a role to ensure that the safety and protection of the people is number one. "The TNI remains at the forefront," said Anies.

Previously, President Joko Widodo asked that the defense spending policy be changed into a well thought out and systematic defense investment policy.

Jokowi continued, Indonesia must begin to anticipate fighting with a new style, namely battles that have a greater destructive power, are shorter, and which combine various tactics at once.

"To master the latest technological leaps, we must be serious about changing our policy from a defense spending policy to a defense investment policy," Jokowi said in an event broadcast on the Presidential Secretariat's YouTube account.

According to him, technological transformation within the TNI is needed. Especially in the era of the fourth volume industrial revolution like now, Jokowi said that he had created many renewable military technologies based on nano technology and artificial intelligence that influenced future war strategy tactics.
