Commission II Of DPR Asks KPU-Bawaslu To Make The 2024 Election Budget Efficient
JAKARTA - Commission II of the Indonesian House of Representatives (DPR RI) will hold a Working Meeting (Raker) with the Ministry of Home Affairs (Kemendagri) and a Hearing Meeting (RDP) with members of the Election Commission-General Election Supervisory Body (KPU-Bawaslu) for the 2022-2027 period, as well as the Election Organizing Honorary Council (DKPP) to discuss the stages of the 2024 General Election on Wednesday, April 13, this afternoon.
"DPR Commission II will hold a meeting with the Minister of Home Affairs, KPU, Bawaslu, and DKPP on Wednesday at 14.00 WIB," said Deputy Chairman of Commission II DPR RI Junimart Girsang, Wednesday, April 13.
Junimart explained that the meeting will discuss the preparation of the government and election organizers for the 2024 Simultaneous Election. The preparation, according to him, is related to the program, stages, and budget requirements for the implementation of the election.
In the meeting later, Junimart asked the KPU and Bawaslu to streamline the budget for the 2024 General Election without compromising work professionalism.
"We encourage election organizers to streamline the 2024 election budget as efficiently as possible without reducing the value of professional work," said Junimart.

The PDIP politician gave an example that efficiency can be done by shortening the campaign period.
"This is because it is closely related to logistics procurement, digitalization in several stages which can save the budget," said Junimart. Previously, President Joko Widodo said that a budget of Rp. 110.4 trillion was needed for holding elections and simultaneous regional elections in 2024. President Jokowi said this amount consists of the budget for the needs of the General Election Commission (KPU) of Rp. 76.6 trillion and the Election Supervisory Body (Bawaslu) of Rp. 33.8 trillion. "Yesterday, it was conveyed to me that an estimated budget of Rp110.4 trillion was for the KPU and Bawaslu," President Joko Widodo said in a limited meeting at the Bogor Presidential Palace on Sunday, April 10.
