Police Arrest KPU Staff Stabber In Yahukimo, Papua
JAKARTA - The joint military-police apparatus managed to arrest Yepi Mayang, a suspect in the murder case of the General Election Commission (KPU) staff in Yahukimo, Papua. Police are still on the hunt for the main suspect.
"One suspect was arrested in the name of YM in a murder case. The main suspect is still DPO," said Karo Penmas, Public Relations Division of the Police Headquarters, Brigadier General Awi Setiyono in a written statement, quoted Monday, October 5.
According to Awi, the main suspect in this case is a former member of the TNI who was fired in the case of selling ammunition. The team is still hunting.
"Indeed, the main suspect is the dismissal of a member of the TNI for the case of selling ammunition, and he has been legally processed and fired," he said.
Then, said Awi, the joint team also took on five suspects in various cases in Papua. One of the people arrested was a member of the KKB.
"Of the three cases, other KKB members who were involved in possession of YY's sharp weapons were also arrested, the burning of BRI ATMs in the name of the US alias Koroway, and treason on behalf of PM and KM," said Awi.
The five suspects were arrested by the Nemangkawi joint task force and detained at the Papua Police Headquarters. In the future, it is hoped that high-ranking officials from the KKB will continue to be provocateurs for Papuan separatists.
In the case of the stabbing of a staff from KPU Yahukimo, Papua, named Hendry Johpinski occurred on 11 August. Papua Police Chief Inspector General Paulus Waterpauw said the murder was carried out by an unknown person.
Paulus explained that the incident which occurred at 14.30 WIT started when they returned to deliver the medicine for Karolina Pahabol (30), Kenan Mohi's wife.
While in the middle of the road, the two of them were intercepted by residents who asked where the victim was and asked to take out a KTP. However, when the victim issued a KTP, he was stabbed in the back, and soon a resident came who attacked the victim.
"The exact motive is not yet known, but from Mohi's statement it was revealed that the perpetrators immediately walked towards the forest," said Waterpauw, adding that from the reports received it was revealed that Mohi had tried to help the victim, but suddenly a man from the forest appeared and attacked the victim again.
The victim died at the scene of the crime (TKP) due to his injuries and currently his body has been rested at the Dekai mosque.
