Atletico Madrid's Style Of Play Criticized, Koke: Let People Say What They Want
JAKARTA - Atlético Madrid's style of play has recently been under the spotlight of many parties. Many criticized Diego Simeone's team's defensive game philosophy.
Recently, it was former Italian coach Arrigo Sacchi who booed the Spanish La Liga club's style of play. According to him, the philosophy of Atletico Madrid as prehistoric football from the 60s.
This criticism was responded to, Atletico Madrid captain, Koke. He doesn't seem to really care about that.
Koke said he felt comfortable with his team's current playing style.
"We have been playing like this for a decade and we are enjoying it. We have a strategy and have always been in this plan," Koke told a news conference ahead of the Champions League quarter-final second leg against Manchester City, as reported by Reuters from Reuters.
"Let people say what they want. We play what we play. We have our own plans."
"We will continue to play with our style, no matter what the pundits say," the Spanish midfielder added.
Previously, Atletico Madrid coach, Diego Simeone, also gave the same response. He is reluctant to change his team's style of play just to satisfy the critics.
"It's always ex-players or coaches who choose to open their mouths to attract attention. I don't need to ignore them," said Diego Simeone.
