2 Great Hopes For Holding The 2021 International Youth Championship, Including Proving That Indonesia Is Ready To Hold The U-20 World Cup
JAKARTA - Chairman of Pancoran Soccer Field as the organizer of the 2021 International Youth Championship, Gede Widiade, revealed two big hopes for holding the agenda. This event is not only to strengthen ties of friendship and enrich the experience of young players, but also as a means of proving Indonesia to the world.
"I hope that holding this tournament actually has a dual function. First, to inform the world that Indonesia has entered the category of a safe country to visit," said Gede Widiade at the 2021 International Youth Championship press conference at the Shangrila Hotel, Jakarta on Tuesday, April 12.
"The second is to prove Indonesia's readiness to welcome the U-20 World Cup in 2023," he continued.
The 2021 International Youth Championship is the second series of the inaugural agenda which was held in 2019 in Bali. In 2022, the International Youth Championship will be held from May 13-19 with all events centered at the Jakarta International Stadium.
Even though it will be held in 2022, Gede Widiade still asks for this agenda to be called the year 2021. Because last year the agenda was delayed due to the high number of COVID-19 spreads.
"This (International Youth Championship) was indeed held in 2022, but let's call it 2021 because last year we were delayed due to the high pandemic here (Indonesia)," he said.
The agenda for the 2021 International Youth Championship itself will be attended by four participants, namely Atletico Madrid U-18, Barcelona U-18, Bali United U-18 and Indonesia All Star U-20.
