Viral Teacher In Bali Steps On Shoulder Of Students When Sentenced To Push Up, This Is What Disdikpora Says

KANGASEM - Video footage of a teacher allegedly stepping on a student's shoulder when a student is being pushed up in a classroom has gone viral on social media.

The incident occurred in one of the Karangasem High Schools, Bali. In the video, a number of students were punished with push ups. A teacher who was standing approached one of the students who were being punished and stepped on the shoulder of the student with his right foot. Allegedly this teacher punished push-up students for having long hair.

Meanwhile, the Head of the Karangasem Regency Education, Youth, Sports (Disdikpora) Office, Wayan Sutrisna, said when confirmed that the incident was not under the authority of the Karangasem Regency Disdikpora, but the Bali Province Disdikpora.

"That's not under the authority of the district education office, senior high school is the authority of the provincial office. We, the Karangasem Education Office, have the authority over kindergarten, elementary and junior high schools. In high school, it's not under the authority of the district education office," said Sutrisna, Tuesday, April 12.

Sutrisna also received the video recording. However, the exact location of the incident is not yet known.

"We have conveyed it through the supervisor. However, technically please coordinate with the Provincial Office in responding to incidents like this," he said.

"Try to confirm (to the Bali Province Disdikpora) so I'm not mistaken. It's high school, I also got a submission (video) like that. I've contacted the province to facilitate responsibility there. If ethically we don't have the authority, but if we have the authority over teachers in kindergarten, elementary and junior high schools," continued Sutrisna.

Meanwhile, the head of the Bali Youth and Sports Education Agency (Kadisdikpora) Ketut Ngurah Boy Jayawibawa could not be reached for confirmation.
