Meta Plat Form Inc., Testing Trading Feature For Selling Digital Assets On The Virtual Horizon Worlds Platform

JAKARTA - Facebook owner Meta Platforms Inc. has started testing a trading tool to sell digital assets on the virtual reality social platform, Horizon Worlds. According to sources at the company Monday, April 11, this is touted to be an important part of its plans to build a metaverse.

The tools will initially be available for users of the company's immersive platform to choose from, accessible via VR headsets, and allow them to sell virtual fashion accessories or offer other users paid access to parts of the digital world.

According to Reuters, the social media giant is also testing a "creator bonus" program for certain Horizon Worlds users in the United States. Meta will pay participants to achieve targets such as adopting a new tool or feature the company launches.

Facebook itself changed its name to Meta last year and has invested heavily in virtual and augmented reality to reflect its new bet on the world of the metaverse. It is a futuristic idea of a networked virtual environment accessed through different devices where users can work, socialize, and play.

Horizon Worlds is an expansive VR social platform, and Horizon Venues, which focuses on virtual events, is an early iteration of a metaverse-like space.
