Chaos Appears Allegedly Rid By Intruders, BEM SI Confirms Action Is Orderly

JAKARTA - The Media Coordinator of the All-Indonesian Student Executive Board (BEM), Luthfi, said that today's action went smoothly and was well conveyed.

"Alhamdulillah, today's action went smoothly and conducive, we started the action at 12.00 WIB and disbanded at 15.30 WIB," said Luthfi in a written statement quoted by Antara, Monday, April 11.

The BEM All Indonesia (BEM SI) action is a continuation of the BEM SI action on March 28, 2022, which essentially rejects the discourse of postponing the election or amendments to the election, reviewing the IKN Law and maintaining the stability of staple food prices.

The BEM SI aspiration was directly accepted by DPR leadership Sufmi Dasco, Rahmat Gobel, and Lodewijk accompanied by the National Police Chief General Listyo Sigit Prabowo.

In an oration in front of the leadership of the DPR and the National Police Chief, BEM Central Coordinator SI Kaharuddin revealed that this aspiration was purely from the people's voice to be conveyed to the people's representatives.

"We ask the DPR leadership here to represent the people's voices, not the voices of political parties," said Kahar.

After the aspiration was well received, the masses from BEM SI disbanded and then a commotion and riot started.

Luthfi said the riot did not occur by the BEM SI masses, but by provocateurs and intruders.

"The riots were not brought by us from BEM SI, our action was peaceful and our aspirations were well conveyed. After we disbanded, provocateurs and intruders began to arrive," said Luthfi.

This action went well and peacefully because it was under tight guard by the police so that the aspirations of BEM SI could be conveyed properly to the leadership of the DPR.

Luthfi said they would continue to oversee all these demands to completion.
