Same-sex Man Beaten Until He Bleeds While Making TikTok Videos
JAKARTA - A gay man was bruised and covered in blood after being beaten by an unidentified man while filming a TikTok video in public.
Launching abc7ny.com , Sunday, October 4, the 24-year-old man was attacked on Saturday, September 26 at around 23.30 in Broad Street, New York City. At that time, he was recording a TikTok video with a female friend.
In the video footage released to local media by the New York Police Department, a man with blonde hair and a white shirt is seen aggressively approaching the couple.
The gay man's girlfriend tried to hold him back, but he moved past him, punching the gay man in the face.
As the gay man turned to leave, his assailant hit the back of his head. The suspect also hurled homophobic slurs at the man.
He was then left with a torn lip and bleeding nose. The NYPD Hate Crimes Task Force investigated the incident.
The attacker is described as having blonde hair, about 5'9 in height, and was last seen wearing a white long-sleeved shirt, black shorts and black sneakers.
Hate crimes have been on the rise in the United States in recent times.
In 2019, a report found that hate crimes in the United States had reached a decade high.
