Good News From Jasa Marga For Homecomers, Japek II Toll Road Will Operate To Anticipate Backflow

JAKARTA - PT Jasa Marga Tbk will operate the South Jakarta-Cikampek (Japek) II Toll Road in a situational manner in order to anticipate the backflow of Lebaran this year.

"So it is not scheduled, but depends on the situation. This is one of the alternative traffic engineering that we will do," said Director of Operations of PT Jasa Marga Tollroad Operator Yoga Trianggoro as quoted by Antara, Monday, April 11.

Yoga explained that if conditions on the ground really need to break up traffic congestion, especially at KM 66, then at the discretion and coordination with the police, Jasa Marga will open or functionalize the Japek II South Toll Road situationally.

"We have prepared the preparations, so that whenever we need to break the traffic density, especially in KM 66, (South Japek II Toll Road) we can use it," he said.

Jasa Marga plans to operate the South Japek II Toll Road from Sadang to Kutanegara situationally as an alternative route to deal with backflow.

Previously, the Ministry of Public Works and Public Housing (PUPR) planned to prepare the South Jakarta-Cikampek (Japek) II Toll Road to be functional in case of severe traffic jams during Lebaran this year.

PUPR Minister Basuki Hadimuljono said the construction of the South Japek II Toll Road was in anticipation of the functional segment for Eid 2022.

"For the construction of the South Jakarta-Cikampek II Toll Road between Sadang KM 62 and Kutanegara KM 53 along 8.6 km, as an anticipation of functional sections for back and forth flows that are connected to Industrial Road 15 km and re-enter the Jakarta-Cikampek Toll Road via East Karawang Toll Gate KM 54," said Minister Basuki.

As is well known, the South Japek II Toll Road is a toll road that is currently under construction, connecting the Jakarta Outer Ring Road in Jati Asih, Bekasi with the Purbaleunyi Toll Road in Sadang, Purwakarta.

Currently, the construction progress of the Japek II South Package 3 (Taman Mekar – Sadang) Toll Road has reached 62.17 percent, targeted to be completed by the end of 2022. The progress of land acquisition has also reached a progress of 92.04 percent.

The Japek II South Toll Road will later have an important role in connecting regions in West Java. In addition, it also has the potential to bring in other investment interests in West Java which can increase the economic growth of the community and the development of industrial areas, as well as tourism.
