It Was Raining On April 11 At Gedung Sate Bandung, Students Survived
BANDUNG - The student demonstration in front of Gedung Sate, Jalan Diponegoro, Bandung City, West Java, was drenched in rain.
Even so, the students who carried out the action remained at the location, as did the police officers who kept the demonstration activities conducive.
"The West Java Police will continue to prioritize a persuasive approach in demonstration activities, and avoid repressive actions," said West Java Police Public Relations Head Kombes Ibrahim Tompo in Bandung, West Java, as reported by Antara, Monday, April 11.
The students persisted while using umbrellas in the rain. There are also students who use raincoats when participating in the action.
In addition, based on observations, there are traders around Gedung Sate who sell plastic raincoats at a price of Rp. 10,000 per one raincoat.
Meanwhile, since 14.30 WIB, more than a thousand students from various universities in Bandung began to arrive from various directions to the front of Gedung Sate.
Those gathered at the Sate building were seen wearing suits from the Bandung Institute of Technology (ITB), the Indonesian Education University (UPI), the National Institute of Technology (Itenas) Bandung, and a number of other universities.
However, due to the rain, the number of students taking action seemed less than before because some of them took shelter in buildings around Gasibu Field.
Meanwhile, Bandung Police Chief Kombes Aswin Sipayung said the demonstration could only be carried out until 18.00 WIB. If this time is exceeded, the police will determine the next steps, he added.
"We prioritize communication and also be persuasive in securing this student action," said Aswin.
