Cristiano Ronaldo Slams Fan's Cell Phone, Victim's Mother Claims: You Can See Bruises
JAKARTA - Manchester United star footballer, Cristiano Ronaldo was involved in an unpleasant incident after the match against Everton. At that time Ronaldo was caught slamming a fan's cellphone.
In the meeting between Everton and Manchester United in the 32nd week of the English Premier League on Saturday, April 9 yesterday, the visitors lost 0-1. The result of the match seemed to make Cristiano Ronaldo annoyed.
The player's annoyance was seen when he walked into the hallway to the players' locker room. At that time, Cristiano Ronaldo was caught slamming the cellphone of an Everton supporter named Jake Harding.
Quoted from the Liverpool Echo, the incident not only made Harding's cellphone seriously damaged but also left bruises on the fans' hands. This is as conveyed by Jake's mother, Sarah Kelly.
Sarah said when the incident happened, she was in the stands with Jake to watch the game. But when the game ended, the son, who is known to have autism, spontaneously shifted into the hallway to record the opposing players leaving the field.
"He (Jake) recorded all the United players walking (towards the hallway). He then lowered his cellphone because he saw Ronaldo pulling his socks and his feet were bleeding. He lowered his cellphone to see what it was," Sarah said, quoted by the Liverpool Echo.
"Ronaldo then walked past him but with terrible emotion he then slammed the phone out of my son's hand and kept walking."
Not long after, Sarah saw that her son's hand was bruised. Although the incident with Cristiano Ronaldo was so fast and unexpected, the mother suspected that there had been physical contact.
"You can see the bruising (on the back of the hand) which means he (Ronaldo) made contact. I can't believe I'm talking about it," Sarah said.
Before Sarah revealed this, Ronaldo had also apologized for the incident. He made the statement via Instagram.
In his apology, Cristiano Ronaldo also invited the fans to watch at Old Trafford.
"It's never easy to deal with emotions in difficult times like the ones we are facing. We must always be patient and set an example for all audiences," Ronaldo said.
"I want to apologize for my anger and if possible I would like to invite the supporters whose cellphones I slammed down to watch at Old Trafford as a form of fair play and sportsmanship," he said.
