Kodam Jaya Commander's Message To Demo Participants On April 11: Keep The Month Of Ramadan Sacred, Act In Accordance With The Rules
JAKARTA - The Commander of the Jaya/Jayakarta Military Regional Command (Kodam Jaya), Major General Untung Budiharto emphasized that his party and the Metro Police will maintain the aspirations of the community so that they can be conveyed properly in the student demonstration on April 11, 2022.
"Don't be anarchist. Kodam Jaya together with Polda Metro will ensure that aspirations can be conveyed properly," said Untung Budiharto when contacted, Antara, Jakarta, Monday, April 11.
Furthermore, he also appealed to the demonstrators to maintain the sanctity of the month of Ramadan and act according to the rules. "We ask people who want to hold demonstrations to maintain the sanctity of the month of Ramadan, act according to the rules," he said.
Regarding security for the demonstration, the Jaya Regional Military Command has prepared 1,330 personnel to support the joint team with the Polda Metro Jaya. The total number of personnel is 5,626.
He explained that none of the security personnel used firearms or sharp weapons. He also ordered that all members tasked with securing no one act arrogantly and handle demonstrations with humane measures.
"Always be disciplined according to the main duties and authorities," he said.
Previously, the All-Indonesian Student Executive Board planned to hold demonstrations in front of the DPR Building and at the Merdeka Palace, centered on the Arjuna Wijaya Statue (popularly known as the Horse Statue), Jakarta.
The Director of Traffic at the Polda Metro Jaya previously explained that the demonstration was scheduled to start at 10.00 WIB.
