Bali Chosen To Host Indonesia International Marathon 2022
DENPASAR - The province of Bali has been chosen to host the first Indonesia International Marathon (IIM), which will be held on June 26, 2022, with the concept of sport tourism.
"In addition to strengthening the synergy between the central and regional governments, this event aims to form a superior and healthy young generation through sports competitions," said IIM 2022 committee chairman Made Cakra Adi in a written statement in Denpasar, reported by Antara, Sunday, April 10.
Made Cakra conveyed this during an audience with the Chair of the Regional National Crafts Council (Dekranasda) of Bali Province, Putri Suastini Koster in the Sanur area, Denpasar.
The Indonesia International Marathon is a running competition whose implementation applies the competition standards from the World Athletics-AIMS, which was initiated by the Indonesian National Sports Committee (KONI) and involves the best Race Director and Race Measurer.
With the concept of sports tourism, the Indonesia International Marathon will be held every year, in one of Indonesia's tourist attractions so that it can provide its own challenges and present a panorama of Indonesia to the world.
"By being held in Bali, it is expected to be able to revive the Balinese economy, foster world confidence in the condition of Bali's tourism and revive the Bali MSME sector," he said. , as well as advancing the world of sports.
Responding to this, the Chairperson of the Bali Province Dekranasda Putri Suastini Koster expressed her appreciation and strongly supported the implementation of activities in Bali.
Although Bali has often been the venue for holding international activities, he asked the committee to coordinate and synergize with relevant agencies within the Bali Provincial Government so that the implementation of the activities runs successfully and smoothly.
"We hope that in the preparation and implementation of the 'event', it can absorb a lot of local workers and display Balinese artistic culture on the sidelines of carrying out activities," he said.
In fact, the wife of the Governor of Bali suggested that the trophies for the winners of the Indonesia International Marathon use Balinese designs made of wood or other materials that have Balinese characteristics.
Putri Koster also invited the participants to have the opportunity to visit the Bali Arts Festival which will be held for a whole month, starting in mid-June 2022.
