BPOM Ensures Food In Baturaja Bedug Market Is Safe From Hazardous Substances
BATURAJA - The Food and Drug Supervisory Agency (BPOM) of South Sumatra (Sumsel) ensures that the food and drinks sold by traders at the Bedug Market, Taman Kota Baturaja, Ogan Komering Ulu (OKU) Regency are safe from harmful substances.
The head of the South Sumatra BPOM, Zulkifli in Baturaja, Sunday, April 10, revealed that from the results of the inspections carried out at the Bedug Baturaja Market and elsewhere from the beginning of Ramadan until the seventh day, his party had not found any food sold by traders containing hazardous materials.
He said that during the food inspection, one unit of the field laboratory car was deployed, so that the food sold by traders was directly inspected on the spot.
The examination this time focused on examining food ingredients such as noodles, tofu, and foods that use food coloring.
This was done in the mirror last year where officers found this type of food containing borax and formalin as well as textile dyes.
"The result is that there are no foods that contain harmful substances such as borax or formalin," he said as quoted by Antara.
According to him, traders have also begun to understand the dangers of substances other than food ingredients being mixed in food.
"We are grateful because people are getting smarter and they are able to deal with their products more safely," he said.
OKU Regent Daily Executor Teddy Meilwansyah added that from the results of the food inspection at the Bedug Market, Baturaja City Park and food vendors at the Atas Baturaja Market, no dangerous food was found.
"Earlier we got the results directly from the South Sumatra BPOM which stated that all the food sold did not contain chemicals. Such as noodles, tofu and so on were safe," said Teddy.
