Google Meet Brings Notifications To Last Person On Call
JAKARTA - Google Meet now presents a special notification for those of you who were the last person on their video call.
Often when joining a meeting through Google Meets, there are always users who forget to leave the virtual meeting room.
Quoting XDA Developers, Sunday, anticipating that this will happen again and again, this notification feature is presented.
When a user is in the meeting room more than five minutes after all the other participants have left the room, Google will display a "pop-up".
The "pop-up" appears telling you that you are the only one left in the room.
There are two options offered by Google, the first option is "Leave Now" or out of the meeting room or "Stay Here" which means the user has consciously chosen to stay in the meeting room.
If both options are not selected within two minutes, then Google will automatically remove you from the meeting room.
“Now, when you are the only person in the meeting for five minutes, you will receive a confirmation asking if you want to stay or leave the meeting. If you don't respond after two minutes, you will automatically leave the meeting," Google said in its blog post.
Call reminders when the meeting room is empty will be activated automatically, but users can control it in "Settings - General".
The feature is currently available in Google Meet on desktop and iOS, while the Android version will follow.
Another update, Google Meet combines "host" and "co-host" controls in one place for a more intuitive user experience.
Previously, these settings could be found in several locations in the app.
But now users can find all host management features and settings under "Host control" menu.
These meeting exit reminders will begin rolling out to all Google Workspace customers, existing G Suite Basic and Business customers, and users with personal Google accounts in the coming days.
Meanwhile, Host management menu updates will be available to all users.
These features come after a few weeks earlier Google launched the new "integrated view" Gmail.
